zPlanner is a new tool released by Zerto in version 7.0. The application is installed during the ZVM installation process and requires no additional steps to setup. This article goes over how to use this new feature in the ZVM's web UI.

  1. From the Customer’s ZVM Dashboard, select and open Analytics on the left tab.

       2. Click Planning on the left tab

       3. At the top of the screen, select VM Selection at the top to open the VM Selection window

       4. In the new window, select all of the VMs the customer would like to replicate and click the arrow pointing the right to collect metrics on those specific VMs, click Save.

       5. Next, increase the date range in the top right to Last Month, this way we can better determine the overall usage for an entire month and provide more accurate requirements from the customer onprem environment to properly replicate to ours. Click Apply.

       6. The selected VMs will now appear in the Planner informing you of the how much bandwidth and recovery disk size the customer will require based off of customer IOPS and Network throughput. At this time, Recovery Disk Size does not calculate required overhead, so please take the value for the Recovery datastore and add 30 GB to it.
