Product Definition

The Evolve Office Skype Communicator is a Broadsoft application designed for Skype for Business users. The application follows the UC-One application framework and uses platform settings to enable Skype Connect versus UC-One.

The Skype Communicator is able to successfully manage processes between the native Skype for Business application and the Broadsoft platform for enhanced functionality. This application is available to be installed on desktops running Windows OS only. Please note, there is no timeline for a MAC release at this time.

• Phone presence status, including do not disturb updated in the Skype client, automatically from the phone platform
• Click to Call with Desk Phone or soft phones via the public network from within your Microsoft Skype for Business client
• Soft phone audio calling with full call handling, such as: Mute, End Call, Transfer, Hold & Conferencing
• Video calling with full call handling features mentioned above
• Incoming call notifications on the desktop to accept or decline

Target Market

Microsoft Office 365 customers that have purchased a package that includes Skype for Business, already implemented the Skype application, and users are happy with the application.

If those criteria are not met, then the Evolved Office UC-One application is a better fit for a better unified communications experience because it’s one application natively talking to the Evolve IP voice platform.

• The above Product Code may be added onto existing: Premium, Premium User – No Device, and Enhanced Users
• All new accounts can bundle in the Skype Connect application in the UC User Bundles (UC User One, UC User One Plus, UC User Two, UC User Two Plus)
• Supports desktop integration only.  No Skype integration on mobile devices**
• Users in the same location will NOT have the ability to use both UC-One and Skype Connect.  Only UC-One users or Skype Connect users are permitted in a single location

**At this time, the only way to integrate Skype for Business from Office 365 is via a desktop application because Microsoft does not allow developers to integrate directly to their cloud.  So, a desktop application that federates the communication is the only way to offer these advanced features.

FAQ

Is there a mobile client for this app?
No, due to federation there is no mobile application at this time however if users want a mobile client recommend 3rd party app “Call Control” and app by Kim Winther.
