To Test Failover:
- In the Zerto User Interface set the operation to Test and Click on the Arrow icon labeled Failover.
- The test failover wizard is displayed
- The test failover wizard is displayed
- Select the VPGs to test from the list.
- Click Next
- Select the point to which you want to test the recovery. The default is the last check point. To change the default, click the checkpoint link.
- The Select Recovery Point dialog is displayed.
- The Select Recovery Point dialog is displayed.
- Select the point to recover to:
- Last – The recovery is to the last recovered point.
- Latest VSS – When VSS is used
- Checkpoint – The recovery is to a manually provided checkpoint
- Time – Enables the slider to an automatically generated checkpoint to the nearest time wanted for recovery
- Manual Select – Click Open Selection Window to display all the checkpoints
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Click the Failover arrow to start the test
The test starts for the selected VPGs
The virtual machines in the protection group are created with the label testing recovery
Note: You cannot take a snapshot of a test machine for later use.
The VPG conintues to be protected
To Stop Failover Test:
- Click the Stop test icon () for the VPG to stop testing, in the VPGs tab, or in the VPG details tab in the testing area in the top right of the dailog
- VPG Dialog
- The Stop Failover test dialog is displayed.
- VPG Dialog
- In the result field specify whether the test passed or failed
- Select the VPGs to stop testing and Click Stop Selected
- Click Close.
