Issue

This isn't necessarily a problem but it can be a good way to free up space on a client's server. Collectively, Intronis signature files can take up many gigabtyes of space.

This process assumes that Intronis is running on a client's server (not workstations), and that they have a separate drive with an appropriate amount of drive space available than their C drive.

Solution

The steps provided here are taken directly from the following Intronis support article: https://support.intronis.com/Internal/How_do_I_move_the_Signatures_folder, slightly modified for our purposes.

You may want to use a panel to highlight important steps.

  1. Go to Start -> Run -> Services.msc

  2. Stop the BackupAgent and BackupUpdater services.

  3. Create a new folder in the spot you would like the checksums folder to reside (e.g. D:\Folder\Signatures):

  4. Copy/Move contents of “<install folder>\Signatures” to the new location.

  5. Inside the software's installation directory (This should be C:\\Program Files (x86)\Evolve IP\Evolve IP Cloud Backup\Settings.xml), right click on Settings.xml and choose "Open With..."  Select Notepad.

  6. Inside the "General Section" edit the Signatures path value to match the new location:

    <SignatureStorePath Value="D:\Folder\Signatures" />

  7. Save the changes to the file.

  8. Start the BackupAgent service.


Special Notes:

***NOTE: this should not be placed on a shared folder. If they point two agents to the same folder, unknown havoc will ensue, and data will not restore properly!

***NOTE: since we don’t back this folder up, if the client deletes it or installs to a new drive without migrating it, the software will force new true fulls
