How to Upgrade to Zerto 8.
05
IMPORTANT: Due to a change made by the vendor, port communication has changed. Previous replication used to be over port 9081, this will no longer be the case. Before upgrading to Zerto 8, all protected sites must have port 9071 open. Once the upgrade is complete, you may close port 9081 if you would like. If you are running VMware ESXi 7.0, all VPGs will need a Force Sync ran on them after the upgrade. This will remove the existing checkpoint history and restart checkpoint creation. VPGs will not be able to failback to the old checkpoint history, there is no way to retain or recover this. We do not recommend any customer upgrading the hardware versions of their current VMs during any ESXi upgrade. If hardware version is upgraded, we may be unable to protect the VM as the VM will not power on in the event of a failover until the VM has its hardware version downgraded manually prior to initiating failover. The process of downgrading VM hardware version would be the responsibility of the tenant, not Evolve IP.
RDP and Login to your ZVM server (not the web UI)
1 - Download the appropriate installer:
VMware Installer: https://sync.evolveip.net:510/shares/file/
rk4IWXXoXHQ/
Hyper-V Installer: https://sync.evolveip.net:510/shares/file/
2 - After downloading, extract the installer from the .zip file
View the extracted files and run the Zerto Virtual Replication installer as an Administrator
3 - Proceed through the Install Wizard
, Click Next and accept the EULA., when reaching the following steps, take the proceeding action:
- Select to enforce roles and permissions using Zerto vCenter privileges - YES
- If running ESXi 7.0 or later, Do NOT check the box to override the auto force sync. If you're running ESXi 6.7 or earlier, you may override the auto force sync, but we recommend you still run it. Be aware that running this restarts the checkpoint history for all VPGs. There is no way of retaining the previous history during the force sync.
- Auto-Upgrade VRA - YES
4 - Once validation is complete, Click Run
5 - Once upgrade is complete, check the box to Open the Zerto Virtual Manager Interface, Click Done.
6- Login to the ZVM Web UI.
7- From the Zerto Dashboard, Click Setup and review the VRA Status and Version. Make sure that all VRA Versions state either ‘Upgrading’ or ‘Latest’ and that Status states ‘Installed’. This may take some time to complete. If any VRA does not upgrade to the Latest version, please contact Evolve IP Support.
If your Zerto Server fails to upgrade, please contact Evolve IP Support:
